Ward Sister/Charge Nurse
£36,679 (£40,599 with Non-Medical Prescriber qualification)

We are looking for Registered Nurse with a background in palliative care to join the clinical management team at St Joseph’s Hospice in Thornton, Merseyside. This role provides an excellent opportunity to either, step up or continue to grow, into a management position and to train as a Non- medical prescriber.
About St Joseph’s Hospice
St Joseph's Hospice is one of the oldest hospices in the country and now each year we provide care and support to over 200 people with life limiting conditions from within the West Lancashire, Sefton, Liverpool and Knowsley areas.
The hospice has 31 patient rooms providing high quality, end of life care, and is situated in 12 acres of beautiful woodland. Our community Hospice is a nurse led service which helps to create a home from home environment for our patients and provides ongoing support to their families. Clinical activity is supported by our in-house Non-Medical Prescriber nurse, a visiting GP and a local network of specialist clinical support.
What we’re looking For
You will act as a role model and mentor to our excellent clinical team, working alongside MDT colleagues, you will ensure clinical practice is to the highest standard. You will support the Inpatient Unit Manager with general management and professional development of the nursing team.
You will have the opportunity to continue to develop your nursing skills, as occasional cover on the units will be required.
The successful candidate will have:
- At least 2 years recent post qualification experience in a hospice or healthcare setting
- Qualifications/training in teaching and palliative care
- Experience of acting as a Non-Medical Prescriber OR St Joseph’s will provide the post holder with the opportunity to undertake the V300 qualification in order to act as the NMP in the workplace.
Additional Information
The working pattern for the role will be 5 days worked over 7, predominately between the hours of 8am- 8pm. However, there should be flexibility and a willingness to work some night shifts based on Hospice need and to support staff.
